The clandestine coffee production of world famous brands was identified and suspended.
In the operational video, we were able to recognize our favorite Lavazza coffee. This is exactly the kind of coffee that we have been fighting with for many years. Our first article was published in September 2016, and has already gained 49,507 views. We wrote articles "Attention, fake!", "Attention, fake 2.0!" , "Polish Lavazza", thereby tried to convey to our customers how dangerous coffee, which is produced in such conditions, can be.
We have heard stories from our customers of how they bought counterfeit Lavazza coffee, and this led to the breakdown of their coffee machine, as small stones came across, which, falling into the millstones, disabled the machine, which led to costly repairs and replacement of an entire machine unit.
We have repeatedly received questions from people: "Why are they selling Lavazza Oro for 250 UAH on my Facebook, and your price is 455 UAH", "Why is it possible to buy Lavazza coffee at OLH for 200 UAH for 1 kg", "Why is it in my Italian shop under the house sell Lavazza ORO coffee at UAH 250 per 1kg ". And we had to explain that our coffee is original, and that one is fake. After talking with such a client for more than 5 minutes, and telling about the visual differences between the original and counterfeit products, the client was convinced and began to understand why this was so.
It was upsetting and annoying that only we needed this war with scammers. The official importer of Lavazza coffee answered us that their hands are tied for this fight, since the owner of TM is a company from Italy, and only they can turn to our Police with a statement of the fight for copyright. Cyberpolice exposed a criminal group, inflicted losses on global trading companies of more than UAH 5,000,000
The offenders organized the production of counterfeit coffee, which was passed off as products of well-known manufacturers. The counterfeit was sold on Internet ad sites. During the searches, police officers seized about 10 tons of counterfeit products.
Employees of the Department of Cyberpolice, together with investigators of the Kiev police, exposed five members of a criminal group in the illegal use of the sign for goods and services of world brands.
It was established that offenders in six warehouses established the production of counterfeit coffee. They sold forgeries on Internet ad sites, posing as products of well-known world manufacturers.
In addition, the organizers had a controlled network of clandestine industries, which produced more than 10,000 packs of counterfeit coffee per week.
Law enforcement officers conducted sixteen authorized searches in the homes and cars of the defendants, as well as in the places of manufacture and storage of counterfeit products. As a result, more than 9 tons of coffee, 150,000 packages with logos and trademarks of world coffee producers, equipment for manufacturing and packaging, as well as 10 tons of counterfeit products ready for sale were seized.
According to preliminary estimates, the trademark owners suffered damage in the amount of over UAH 5,000,000.
Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 3 of Art. 229 (Illegal use of a mark for goods and services, a company name, a qualified indication of the origin of goods) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions continue.
Several types of coffee were not recognized in the video.
